Unto the mirror
I turn my face,
And ask of you
For just a trace.

Of that fair beauty
That love looks for,
Do I still have it
Just like before.

Mirror, Mirror
Hear my request,
Is my sex appeal
A big ole mess.

Unto the mirror
I stare in space,
And ask of you
For a pretty face.

    Judging comment

    A simple format executed very well with excellent rhyme and meter. Staring into a mirror is something we all do pretty much every day, are any of us really 100% happy with what we see. Aging and beauty and how others will perceive us are things not far from our minds as we grow older. Questions you have addressed in a simple yet thought provoking way!

    I wonder just how many people ask that question believing that looks bring love. An interesting piece that captures both the issue of aging and the eternal yearning of humanity to be loved
