I Can't See The Wind

by CJ Maleney   May 3, 2017

It's not so late and yet I should be seeking sleep.

I am not,
Every sense is alive for some reason.

I try to watch the same episode of the same bloody series i've become engrossed in for the third time.

I fail again!

Why?

Because of a bloody moth.

I opened my window to let some cool air in and it piggy backed a ride.

I can't see the air waves or feel the tiny breeze it creates behind its wings but I know they exist.

It bounces around my little light seeking something and I stare at it for ages.
It's the first one i've seen this year.

What are you looking for?
I doubt it knows, it just sees the pretty light and it is drawn to it.

How many of us are exactly the same?

How many of you would squish it?
That is not me!

I catch it gently in one hand and I can feel it's tiny wings fluttering in my loose fist seeking escape.

It's life is fleeting,
!We endure!

I open my window and let it fly away.
Then close my curtain and window blocking all light so it can not return.

Why?

Because that is me.

I read the line about the series and was like yep, Craig and his Supernatural lol. This is a great write, and very thoughtful! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I find myself in similar situations when unable to sleep...except unfortunately if a bug is involved it's usually a mosquito and not a moth...and it's awful.

I've only encountered mosquitos in Kenya and I agree. Even with a net they still bug the hell out of you and you hope it ain't gotta hole in it. The side effects of the anti malaria drugs ain't pleasant either.

Not a poem but thought I would share.

And if anyone's wondering the series is supernatural,
