How the Maybot Lost her Majority

by Mark Rawlins   Jun 25, 2017

Down in the den that they call Number ten
lives a Maybot who's feeling quite cross.
Down in the den that they call Number ten
is a Maybot that wants to be boss.

So she said to the Poors down in Poorville town,
'Please vote for me, please do, I won't let you down'.
Then she said 'strong and stable' for all she was able,
she said 'strong and stable' and then...
She said strong and stable for all she was able,
again and again and again.

'I will give you some Brexit, some Brexit today,
and Brexit means Brexit means Brexit I say!'
But the Poors down in Poorville, they didn't feel sure
what 'Brexit means Brexit' means, not anymore.
But they wanted hope, and they wanted fair,
and they wanted the Maybot to care care care,
and they wanted hope and they wanted fair,
but the Maybot didn't know how to care ....

So she said 'strong and stable', for all she was able,
so she said 'strong and stable', for sure.
But the Poors down in Poorville want food on their table
and to not be the Poors anymore.

So to make their lives a little better
the Poors they wrote Maybot a letter: ....

"Though to the food banks we are grateful,
you, we think are mean and hateful.
We do not like dry bread and jam.
We do not like tinned beans and spam.
We do not like to sleep in boxes.
We do not like to hunt for foxes.
We do not like to shake with cold -
We do not like it when we're old.
Whilst the fat cats dodge their share,
We do like hope, and we do like fair."

So down in the den that they call Number ten
lives a Maybot who's still getting cross.
So down in the den that they call Number ten,
she stamps and says, 'I'm still the boss'.

So she's spinning of winning, and clinging and clinging
and clinging on now by a thread.
And she's banging and clanging, and clanging and hanging
despite what the Poorville Poors said.
The Maybot is spinning and singing of winning
and still she is clinging to power.
After her clanging and banging and clanging
she is hanging on in her last hour.

'Cause down in the den, that they call Number ten,
is a Maybot who wants to be boss,
and down in the den that they call Number ten
is a Maybot who's still very cross!

WOW, Mark. This is superbly clever and cool! Hats off to you for such a creative expression! The rhyming is great and it flowed so smoothly. I'm like reading from a children's book but hey, the subject matter is not for children! This seriously is a great concern now for people in the UK. You did a very brilliant job, it's really awesome! For a children story lover, I can read this all over again and still adore this. :-)
