You watch me drowning

by Lyical Madness   Jul 25, 2017

You watch me drowning
Mouthing your name
Standing lifelessly at the edge
Revelling in my pain

You tied the emotional rocks
That drag down at my feet
Airless attempts to break free
As I admit defeat

You bound the rope
That bites in my skin
That keeps a prisoner
To the darkness within

You at my graveside
No tears will you shed
For the truth is that's only one part of me
That is now dead...

JUDGES COMMENT: This is one of those writes that resonates with many of us where someone we love watches us drowning (I feel in misery) and either adds to the misery or just doesn't care if that makes sense. It's just so very powerful.

It's a powerful write. I felt your pain and defeat in each word. So well done-
