Me

Excuse me, please, excuse me miss
I'm here to find myself
I've seemed to have misplaced me
Oh, is that me on that shelf?
I don't know how that got here....
Oh wow, that's where this was
That's me back from that one time....
You know, well, just because...
Oh no, let's put that right back
Oh man, that makes me blush!
The me that did that one thing....
But wow, oh what a rush!
That isn't the me I am, though
That's the me he wanted most
A shame it turned out that way
I mean, you know...almost....
But that's not what I came for
I'm not here for the masks
I need to find the real me
I need to stay on task
The girl who smiles so freely
The girl who doesn't care
The girl who laughs so loudly
And shrugs off all the stares
The me who dances wildly
And ping pongs into walls
The me who writes these sad things
As tears begin to fall
The me who feels so brightly
The girl who I forgot
I remember now, she's right here
I'm right here, am I not?

    Such a joy to read this. It shows how wonderful you are and the cute and clever way you have with words.
    I understand, things do not go your ways. and you have lost the track of the free, happy go lucky version of yourself in the hectic world of mundane concerns, though you remember the freedom back in your memory.
    But in the spirit of honesty, freedom does not come from the past, from what we remember of ourselves. Our past is what resulted us to current us. Freedom comes from the real us, the accumulation of all these hardships and experiences that we are going through to get to know the real us. Freedom is not predetermined, it is what we learn and what we apply to the future!!

      Thank you for the comment, and yes, sometimes it takes awhile to process we are just ourselves and a sum of the growth we've gone through. I appreciate the feedback!
