Probable Cause

Billy Bromms is a borrower
You know the type I'm sure
He cannot help his nature
His intent is doubtless pure

He'll cadge a book from his friend
Then never give it back
He's taken money from the till
And promptly got the sack

If not glued tight to the ground
He'll have it in a flash
Down to the brokers he will go
To get his hard earned cash

One day he stole the mayor's cat
And whisked it quite away
Fed it on some tuna fish
It died within the day

The council raged, what could be done
About this thieving beast
They laid a trap with live stock
Then found that they'd been fleeced

Tried many tricks but nothing worked
They didn't have a clue
He'd filtch a watch from your hand
Then sell it back to you

You can't change what a man has done
Nor his character type
But you can harness all his skills
Instead of sit and gripe

Suddenly there's a solution
The town is on a mission
Let's offer him the perfect job
As our newest politician
