Permanent Words:

by Scott Cole   Nov 30, 2017

That's the appealing thing about speech
It's a billboard of open space,
That's full of potential and opportunity
Without any limitations to embrace.

Where thoughts and ideas run free
Across that vocal page of stillness,
As they leave their inked footprints
So other ears can bear witness.

Where uttered words are permanent
And their aftertaste can strike a chord,
When sharp tongues leave their impact
For the pen is mightier than the sword.

Where spoken remarks can divide
From the weight of their imprint,
When their meaning is misunderstood
Or taken out of content.

So release your collected thoughts
For vocabulary speaks louder than words,
With caution and great care
For talking pens don't go unheard.

For what flows from your tongue
Can leave a mark on another's mind,
So always leave a positive impression
On the permanent words you leave behind.

There couldn't be a more apt poem for a site like this Scott, where we all collect and form our words into something meaningful for us, and hopefully others too
Beautiful rhyming, flow and context. Love it! :-) x

Nicely put Scott. It's so true, leave your Mark but take heed of how you write it. Well done-
