A story about Me

by Alex Penuelas   Dec 8, 2017

This is a story about me.

A story about
Nintendo Gameboys and mobile phones,
And how a little boy spent
Hours on end trying to capture
The ever elusive Mewtwo.

A story about
Moving from house to house,
Never really getting attached
To any particular location
Since I was only at each house
For about five years.

A story about
Travelling to every nook and cranny
Of Los Angeles,
Discovering a new love and adoration
Of the city that I call home.

A story about
Anime and comic books,
And how your love for Goku
Inspired me to
Get into martial arts.

A story about
Shortness of breath,
And how my love for swimming
Helped me kick my asthma
To the curve.

A story about
Cheap popcorn and last minute excursions,
Spontaneously going to the theater
To see the latest movie.

A story about
Discovering that not everyone
That you think is your friend
Have the best intentions.

A story about
Discovering that not everyone
Who claims that they love you,
Actually love you.

A story about
Learning who to trust,
For many people out there
Will take full advantage
Of your kindness.

A story about
Learning how to
Cope with loss.

A story about
Learning that life can change
After three car flips.

A story about
How a meeting with a then stranger
On a lonely table,
Eventually lead to me
Writing poetry.

And i know that my story is not done.

But I'll keep writing it.

I love how this takes us through different chapters of your life, and i think itd be cool if you wrote poems that elaborated on each stanza specifically! Then make a mini book or collection out of it; even for personal sake that would be cool
