How Far We Can Climb

by Gwenyth Hill   Feb 10, 2018

Have we ever been at peace before?
Have we ever been united?

Or do we see a world
That continues to be divided?

In what we believe in
In what we fight for

Aren’t we just the same?
Right down to our core

So why do we differ so much
In belief and opinion?

Why do we strive so hard
Just to “fit in”?

Why are we not just
accepted for who we are?

Why does one person
Get to set the bar?

The defines us all
And limits us at the same time

In what we can do
And how far we can climb

Nicely rhymed piece with a thought provoking theme. Yes its surprising that we are as a species so at odds with each other. As Poetess said I think the best gift that you can give yourself is to find out who you are and accept yourself for who you are. Then I would also add "and hang out with similar minded people" :) Best wishes Milly x

Lovely little write. Maybe we can start by accepting ourselves for who we are.
