'Your words'

by Michael   Mar 7, 2018

as I read your letters-

your words-
feel like every one of
them have been
kissed with your lips;
pressed onto the canvas as
if my ears were made of
the paper you write upon

if I were to describe how I feel
it would be like sun-flowers;
that tip-toe from your quill
splashing swirls of script which
were touched by the suns' smile
-melting through
an icy -hollow where my heart
was held hostage in winters
perpetual habitat

your words-
come in wave upon wave;
christening the paper with
your affection for me
washing faith into my eyes
and with hope into my heart
where once both had
been closed to love

your words-
paint with so much colour;
colours that convey warmth-
like tiny bubbles that pop and
sprinkle my mind with
refreshing thoughts;
blotting out my shaded doubts

I sigh.

your words-
have changed a
barren season.
