Sometimes I just think
how I am supposed to feel
instead of living

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful piece. My 7 year old is on the spectrum and it sums up how I feel about others reactions. We should be more respectful of other peoples feelings instead of trying to mold them into what we think they should be.

Bless you with your child. I struggled for years myself, still do in many ways.

Larry, that was my immediate thought - ASD - I remember learning about the triad of impairment when I worked as a support worker in a group home. Hats off to you for sharing.

"On the spectrum" - specific phrase. This is a poem in which I disclose after 60 years that I grew up on the autism spectrum. While I rarely show signs of it now (or in the past 50 years) it still reverberates within my innermost being.
