Stronger than Sorrow

by Maple Tree   Apr 27, 2018

I write in spirals of color
imagination follows in formation
with greetings of the sun, and the
entrance of the moon.

Chemotherapy drips within veins of my
my child, while I rock slowly to songs
In yesterdays classic collection; my pen
sings along in unison.

They say a writer preserves pain in words
ending harmony with hope, and I try to
make sense of it all in my closing stanza;
but what I'm witnessing doesn't make sense..

to capture what I'm feeling within this current nightmare would end in violent
punctuation and explicit slang, that frustrates the artist in me and my daughter...

she says "I'm stronger than the sorrow that resides within my mind"

For her I'll end this with a slowly, dying flower petal alone in the dark, upon a midnight serenade and simply say;

goodnight.

    Judging Comment - Stronger than Sorrow by Maple Tree points 10 - I have read this countless times and each time I find something more beautiful about it, something that moves me like I've never been moved before by a piece of poetry even more so knowing that this is real, no sugar coating it so to speak. I'll need another box of tissues soon though

    A very heart wrenching piece, Ms. Andi. Tears just started to fall and I feel your sorrow deeply. A powerful write carved from your situation... I know I will always remember the last lines.
