The Futility of War

by Milly Hayward   May 8, 2019

As missiles fly, across the sky
I hear her sobbing, broken cry
fallen on her knees, she's shaking
baby's dead, her heart is breaking

A soldier fast behind her rides
his sword is drawn and downward slides
her head is gone and I'm bereft
at this man's bloody needless cleft

My heart is wrenched at loss of life
I stab out at last with my knife
clutched heart he drops down to his knee
this vengeance has not set me free

Bloodshed will cause yet more to come
and now I hear the army drum
My doom is cast like babe and wife
no end to wars eternal strife

I agree war does not solve anything the world loses mother fathers sons caught a sister's and brothers.

Really well penned I think a lot will agree with your conclusion.

I totally agree with you Milly and war will never solve problems...It only creates them. Your comment below sounds like a perfect solution for people who still believe violence will ever fix anything.

It all comes round Miss Milly, war is never an answer, just more sorrowed sacrifices.

This will go in my favorite and thank you for sharing. War is never the answer but that's what happens when you have the devil sitting in power. And the devil promotes violence and everything else that comes with it. Sending you my best
