You and me

You came into my life unannounced,
like kisses trapped in a single gust of wind
I searched the whole world over
for our lips to intertwine,
didn’t you hear it?
“I belong to you”
the softest of words lingering
In the birth of a nocturnal summer breeze,
a message that after so many years, we finally heard.

A thousand years I could walk this earth
yet I’d never find someone so precious so beautiful,
eyes so hypnotic that everyone else just disappears in an instant
A kiss so rare it must be sent from a hidden corner of heaven
like an angel that God sent down, a gift this land will never see again.

My life began that day we met, as my past faded into darkness
we created a love that will last for over a million lifetimes,
A candle that even in the most vicious storms will never blow out.

I knew one day I’d ask for your hand,
always dreaming of your smile;
looking so beautiful in white,
A memory I will one day cherish forever
like a portrait hanging for eternity
in the most sacred chamber of my heart.

I never thought I’d love someone as much as I love you
your beauty inside is just as radiant as the one exposed to our eyes
my heart will be yours for all-time and as I take your hand
silence will deafen the room as my head will be repeating
I’ve never seen anything quite like you.

This was one of the hardest poems I've ever wrote to my wife to be.
I've wrote it for our wedding 22.05.19.
I had to incorporate all our wedding songs and I found it hard to be so poetic when the feelings are simple and easy to see.
