Dream of innocence

by Larry Chamberlin   Aug 9, 2019

I dreamed of us last night
of a way that never was:
in school together though
we really did not meet
for decades further on.

Senior - freshman outing day:
those youngsters were so cute
and I was bubbling with emotion
when you took my arm as we walked.

I dreamed of us last night
of an innocence that never was
that we found each other
as children and not
the jaded people
we had become.
