The Wolves Within (Repost)

by Star   Sep 13, 2019

They randomly wrote words
upon mysterious souls,
sketched faces that
spoke grayish memories..

They dragged their hands
to barely carve maps,
to lead them to nowhere
but the emptiness within them..

Then they howled to make
their way into thick woods,
and scratched trees to make marks
for the dark route back home..

***Since I haven’t posted anything in a little while, I thought it would be fun to repost my first win here . This was written early 2014.
P.S. even if this is worthy of a nomination please don’t, it has already been highlighted.

Ok, I can see how this poem won.
For me I'm hearing a person struggling to free their mind.
Maybe, it's time to update. Pt2, perhaps?

Love the imagery throughout this, Star. I see no reason why it shouldn't be highlighted again! But, as you asked, I won't nominate, lol.

    Take care
