Love Always Wins - Sonnet

by Walter   Sep 20, 2019

How do you risk falling in love again
Believe all the same promises once told
You realized how stupid you were back then
With allowing your heart to be controlled

You're convinced that love no longer exists
And won't be fooled with emotional lies
When the outcome is pain you can resist
As you no longer will trust its disguise

You're tired of playing this lovers game
Know well the saying once bitten twice shy
And no matter what happens you'll remain
Never again to believe all its lies

A beautiful stranger smiles just ahead
Suddenly you forgot all that you said

That stanza hit hard. Love is a game, it's just a matter of time you'll find out whether you lose or win.
