What You Left Behind

by Walter   Oct 26, 2019

I never thought before you left
What you took feels more like theft
When you walked out that door
Now nothing's like once before

When I come home there's no more kiss
Though this is not all I miss
To never see you smile again
This is what causes pain

The quiet moments that we'd share
It's not the same without you there
Laughing through our favourite show
Is something I no longer know

Cooking together for the night
And eating under candle light
Desserts are never sweet as you
And nothing else will make do

Your warmth I felt while in bed
Now feels too big and cold instead
No rhythm of you breathing deep
The sounds of which I'd fall asleep

The only place which you are near
In all my dreams that you appear
Until I wake and you are gone
But I can't help keep holding on

Another terribly sad piece, Walter, but heartfelt and well rhymed throughout.

    All the best as ever
