Medicine

Laughter mends the broken heart, while music soothes the spirit
Alas, it only does it's best work for those who truly hear it
The reason behind the giggles, the passion that drives the beat
The lyrics that give you strength to wipe away the tears and ground your feet

The author behind those phrases than run smooth as melted butter
Who crafts with pen and ink the means to relax your mind and de-clutter
Whose words fill you with hope renewed, so genuine and daunting
They put your mind at ease, and rest the past that lingers, haunting

Stealing the words from your mouth, the very breath from your lips
Replaced by a tingle that reaches head-to-toe and fingertips
The smile that follows inevitable, you couldn't help it if you tried
And a curiosity that follows of what lies beneath all that's implied
