One Word

by Maple Tree   Dec 9, 2019

She said one word
"Good"
as he softened her soul
upon a melting pot of
emotions; first time he kissed her.

Unlike others, his spirit soared
within winds of a kite
but his tail whipped with a sting
that left her scarred for life.

She can't recall midnight talks
because moments have become
dyslexic in her mind; his smile
will forever be embedded within
the broken pieces of her heart.

Years of heartache scattered
crossed miles of open fields
where they once ran together
hand in hand-

but he completed her entrance
with his softly spoken exit;

"Goodbye"
