Tea Cup Illusions

by Angie   Dec 10, 2019

Sitting at the small kitchen table for two
sipping from a porcelain tea cup
dressed in a house coat and fluffy slippers
with messy hair and mascara smudges

The chair across the table
sitting empty now for ten years
she looks into her cup
as she places it upon the delicate saucer
and .....

There he sits
with silver hair still damp from his shower
reading the morning paper
looks up and smiles at his beloved
sitting across the table
caresses her hand as he reaches for a biscuit
and whispers, I love you my sweet

She tilts her head, smiles
and whispers into her tea
I love you too my darling

Such a simple idea that can make you take a step back and realise that the everyday things we do is so precious so beautiful.

Your title draws me in and the wonder of your words was to intriguing to ignore.

    Beautifully written.
