Up in Flames

by Matt Carroll   Jan 23, 2020

No matter how hard you attempt, it simply doesn't measure up
Continuously pouring from a weathered, cracked, and empty cup
Never allowing them to see you falter, or miss even a single beat
Because it's all you can ever do just to stand on your own two feet

When you want to tell it all, but it just won't seem to really matter
You're terrified of once again setting your heart upon a platter
Aware your love is unrequited, though feelings they've incited
If confided, they would leave your friendship irrevocably ignited
