The Kite People

by Maple Tree   Feb 5, 2020

You dont read me because you forgot
what its like to walk in my memories,
you read me because you want to go
back to the place where words were
all we had.

Music filled the void so both of us
could escape the pain of our mental illness-
we didn't think we were ill, we just knew we
were different, and we were cool with that.

I've forgotten what its like to release chaos
like a rainbow and for you to see the beauty,
I've forgotten what its like to love you.....

Its a different time, a different place;

this is the only corner of the world
you will read me, all I know is-

we both know skeletons
are real, aliens exist and I really am
a fairy in disguise as an angel.

I feel like I'm walking the same path you took in relation to feeling like I never belonged and depression, but I was ok with that too. Every time I read your poems I feel this connection and it makes more sense. Hugs you-

I keep reading this and not knowing quite what to comment!

There are so many layers to this piece, as your pieces always have, Maple. There's so much heaviness in this, and a looking back, the complexity and strength of emotions with this person.

Beautifully and uniquely written from your heart, as always <3
