Just Over Eight Miles

by Anne Moore   Feb 10, 2020

I walked just over
Eight miles
To get away from that
House of hell
That’s how
Desperate things got

I walked just over
Eight miles
To find a woman
Who was more of a
Mother in one night
Than the woman
Who raised me has
Been in the past
Six Years

I walked just over
Eight miles
To be happy
For once

Each step of your hike a stride closer to happiness - the journey of life itself in this wonderful poem of yours. I have enjoyed it immensely. Excellent!

    It must be exhausting!!
The repetition of “just over eight miles” makes me feel like you can do a lot more than that to reach the happiness your heart desires.

Honestly, it wasn't... it was more exhilarating cause I was going somewhere where the people actually treat me like a part of the family.
