Replaced

by Walter   Mar 22, 2020

I once was so happy
To have you close by
You were always around me
Beneath the blue sky

We shared many years
With this love that we found
Looked forwards to our future
And fixed to the ground

I loved to be with you
When taking long walks
And listen to the sounds
As you'd softly talk

So familiar to me
The essence of your scent
That followed me around
Wherever I went

I should have known
This too good to be true
As one day I woke up
It was without you

Without any warning
It was so unfair
The love we once shared
Now felt so bare

Our years together
Were suddenly erased
I was thrown in the deep end
You were quickly replaced

Now sharing my life
With something more grand
But missing the touch
Of your gentle hand

This isn't a body
That I'm talking of
But the beauty of nature
That was my true love

And high rise buildings
Are now there instead
My devoted relationship
With nature is dead

There's next to no chance
That she will be found
Whatever's left standing
Will fall to the ground

Lovely rhyming piece that tells of the loss of man's relationship with nature at a more personal level. Milly x
