napowrimo: escape from you (day four)

by prasanna   Apr 4, 2020

i sought affection from your words.
you – you needed kind words spoken
from a warm body with hope still
emanating from it, something you
lost year ago. the world is never kind
to those who need it to be, life is
full of irony like that.

you’re a known quantity though –
a warmth seeker, chewing on
saccharine words, offering
just the bare minimum to
rouse the passion in me.

i know better,
but the heart agitates
at the three syllables
of your name.

i will never escape you
in this lifetime.

I really love your love poems. This strong bond and attachment that can be sensed in most of them, reflecting immense feelings and sincerity. That last line, is so sweet but not cheesy.

    the heart agitates
    at the three syllables
    of your name.

^just reflects how the poet here is in love with this person.

And yest my friend, life is so full of irony.
