Just a feeling

by Obscure   Apr 10, 2020

There's a salty ache in my ribcage
it radiates out through my muscles and bones
Stripping my soul of energy
And filling my eyes with saltwater

I am drowning in waves of sadness
That I conjured up myself
Unraveling my muscles and coating them
in stinging, pain-laden sorrow

There's a bowling ball weighing me down
crushing my lungs and stealing my air
And I add to the weight bit by bit
With thoughts and memories and grief

Who knew that water could burn so fiercely
burning holes in my skull and my eyelids
And travelling down my spine to infect my heart
scorching through my shrieking bloodstream

I don't want to prod this poem, but will say this is strongly written, the imagery is rich & stark, and very emotional. Thank you for sharing this with us!
