napowrimo 16 - Stay

by Sunshine   Apr 18, 2020

I do not wish to forget
how you rise in the morning
with a smile warm as the sun
how your petals sleep at night
closing around me like a loyal guard,
don't let calm tuck me in for bedtime
I would hate to dream in silence.
What if your perfume lost a shade
what if it no longer lingers
over my pillow, all over the walls
How sharp would my vision be?
Soon your face will grow pale
my brain will hurt
my skull will ache
as I squeeze my memory.
I can't live without your voice
I can only survive.
If you go,
your blue room will go grey
our favorite pink chair
will no longer be my favorite
the balcony we love
I will no longer love
the plants we bought?
I won't water
I won't look at them.
All my sentiments will fade away.
Don't leave,
not for a year
not for a month
not for a day.

I know I've read this before, but I just reread this piece now and wow. This just pulls on all of your heart strings.
