The Week of Blue

by Tanya Southey   Apr 26, 2020

Ocean,
sky,
duck-egg blue,
turquoise,
teal,
and navy too;
cornflower,
electric,
powder blue

So many shades
to miss you to

    I love the rhymes here. This piece is vibrant and melancholic at the same time.

    I, too, did not see this coming from you, and it absolutely read as a breath of fresh air to me. There have been times where I needed some inspiration and wanted to learn more shades of a certain color, and it's amazing the names that I never would have thought of! The rhyme kept the flow, and provided that yearning, especially with the last two lines. Feeling blue takes on more depth here, and you captured that perfectly, no other words needed.

      So funny, I did not see this coming from myself either. There were a few verses ahead of this and then I got stuck and just started brainstorming and realised the brainstorm was the poem :) Thanks so much for the feedback x

    Unusual piece from you, Tanya, in terms of the rhyming but I (naturally) loved it. I guess we're all feeling a little blue at the minute, no matter what the shade.

    I hope you are keeping well.

      I am well Ben. This is such a strange time, I have started missing people who I barely see in the normal times...
