Self-absorbed

by Sunshine   May 23, 2020

Cool breeze wheel and dive
making it through dawn again
carrying aromas of nearby trees,
they gently lift light over my eyes.
With the smell of a new day
and a pinch of cold
some birds have been awakened
some birds have puffed their chest
out of slumber like fragile cotton balls.
Absorbed by the profound moment,
I rise, like my prayers,
in sadness and in stillness
wondering, is this world even real?

Your poetry has been on fire lately. This is another one i absolutely loved because of the imagery and metaphors you used here. The first line is genius.

Usually people use the word swirl to describe wind, but using the word wheel makes so much more sense. Because i can see the wind here making a circle pattern in the sky and diving towards this person or just the ground in general. So that feeling tells me it's a cold night.

The rest of the poem flows beautifully and it makes complete sense to me personally. My perception is that this is person is taking life day by day and they are struggling doing so. The perspective here is through the eyes of someone trying to stay positive and showing what a good morning would look like.

You mixed both sadness and happiness well here. I love this poem truly.
