Colorless

by Penned Parodist   May 28, 2020

Life offers such bounty, beautiful color
The lens I possess is unable to decipher
What’s right or wrong, I begin to stutter
The ringing in my head to crack this cipher

You alone did not write this code
Your pigment itself determines the zone
The pity you hold carries a heavy load
A burden we pretend is not ours alone

Openly we celebrate this rainbow of hate
With pride it’s displayed, misguided merit
Polluting the colors, sealing our fate
Color belittled by routine of a parrot

These colors play tricks upon our perception
These colors matter not to human conviction.
