It's kinda starting to work on me
The effects of our mortality
When you lose the ones that you hold true
You wish "please take me instead of you"

It's pretty painful as many will know
And through our tears this pain does show
We often think ourselves tough or wise
But sometimes hurt you can't disguise

More painful when they had much left to give.
So many joys and things for which to live
I think of memories and times we shared
And I always knew you would be there

But now you're not and that's a kick in the teeth
That you have gone is beyond belief
This mortality really makes me shudder
As I say sleep well my bro from another mother
