And Thus, I Write At Night

by Everlasting   Mar 30, 2021

I feel the need to take this to my grave
A love as vast as all the universe
Expanding in my chest as a big wave.
I fear to let it free within this verse
Destruction may befall upon my world
If read by those that aren’t meant, I heard

But oh I feel it here and there
an ache so strong
an ache prolong
An ache that grows and grows some more
Between my chest
Between my chest
I need a rest from this one ache
But no. Oh, no.
I can’t. Oh, no
At night it keeps me wide awake

And thus, I write of love that hurts yet heals
Of love that makes me feel intensely though
Of love that much like truth as well reveals
What I must do to find what I must know
And hence, I will just take this to my grave
A love so vast that I must humbly save

Is the rhyme scheme correct in the last verse?
In any case, the form is neat.

I think so, the first and last verses are meant to be
A Venus and Adonis stanza which is composed of six iambic pentameter lines with a rhyme scheme of ababcc. The middle stanza is a form called Amphion.

I also just noticed that I made a typo in the last verse, tough was meant to be though so it would rhyme with know. Lol
