Hushed Crickets

by Maple Tree   Apr 5, 2021

Lounging upon a bed of moss,
underneath an abandoned tree
gazing within dangling diamonds,
this is where I can be me.

Exposing all my darkest fears
etched with truthful tones of sorrow
yearning for a peaceful melody,
a hopeful, brighter, better tomorrow.

These ears of mine strain to hear
bashed with echos, feeling crushed,
I'm all alone or so it seems
because tonight the crickets are hushed.

In darkest of moons I've never experienced
a moment where I could not feel love,
the sun stopped shining a few years back
clouds have lowered from above.

So I wait upon bated breath
trying to listen to music that soothes me,
all is still within the breeze,
and only death can set me free.

As always Andrea your pieces say so much. I feel your loss in these words. I feel your pain. Hugs my friend-

A piece that definitely pacts a punch and one I'm glad to see nominated. Nice to see a rhyming piece from you too as I haven't seen many from you, I must say that they flow off the tongue.
    Well done,
    Em x
