Realignment

I thought I'd found happiness
it just so happens
I'd searched and
stumbled across
a fool dressed in tin foil
not my knight in shining armour;
he thought I'd be ok
whilst he decided
on our future,
that I'd let him play
with my emotions like that.

It leaves me once again
wondering what I've done
in my past life to deserve
such mockery and abuse.

Then, I look at myself in the mirror,
at the woman I've become -
stronger, wiser and more confident
over the past two years and
I remember a quote I read
when I embarked on my journey
of self love and soul searching -

"the way people treat you is a
statement about them as a human,
not you" and I felt that as I
readjusted my crown.
