Your Night Sky

by Obscure   Dec 27, 2021

I am a star, collapsing
For far too long I've played pretend
Now diseased light fading
I slump into myself again

Did my light warm you, darling?
To warm the world would be a feat
I'll love you from this distance
If fate demands we never meet

Internal pressures gather
I lose my shape, my form, my mind
Time crumbles into darkness
But love's not lost, for it is blind

And I will love you blindly
Decaying star that I must be
The future may not treat us kindly
But wait around, please wait to see

My starlight's been extinguished
I am mostly empty space
I wish to pull you close to me
But that cannot be the case

The galaxy wanders through me
There's much I wish you knew
Now somewhere in your night sky
A black hole sings for you
