1927:

by Scott Cole   Jan 26, 2022

It was the year of 1927
Coolidge was President,
Lois Delander won Miss America
Silent movies came and went.

The Jazz Singer took top honors
As Funny Face made us smile,
While Hoagy Carmichael's Stardust
Was number one song by a mile.

Pan America took flight
Mount Rushmore took shape,
And the Peace Bridge connected
Canada to the United States.

The New York Giants celebrated
And The Yankees did too,
The population topped two billion
As female life expectancy reached 62.

The first pop up toaster
And 7/11 got their start,
The first working television
Became state of the art.

Ford Motor Co. made a comeback
With the birth of the Model T,
As CBS hit the airwaves
The last Shelock story came to be.

The first color photo was printed
The phrase trick or treat was formed,
And 007 in the flesh
Mr. Roger Moore was born.

Lindbergh was man of the year
While polystyrene was contorted,
As Santa got his pilot license
The smores recipe was recorded.

The Globetrotters were founded
Felix the Cat's balloon was flying high,
And The Spirt of St. Louis
Kept our eyes glued to the sky.

The first transatlantic phone call
Finally went through,
And the Holland Tunnel
Made it's celebrated debut.

But above all those things
That graced us in 1927,
There's one I haven't mentioned
That's a true blessing from Heaven.

Cause February 14, 1927
Wasn't a Monday to dread,
For she's sweeter than kool-aid
The best thing since sliced bread.

For Ms. Maxine Virginia Foley
On that day took her first respiration,
And still ninety-five golden years later
Is our Earthly role model and inspiration.

Happy Birthday Granny!!!!!

These words are so enchanting. One would want to keep on reading, and gets disappointed reaching the end. The history that I hope very much is organic, not one that is picked up from google is outmost delightful the way you put not in chronicle order together.
