Picnic in the woods

by Captain Lonesome   Mar 2, 2022

A picnic on the edge of forest of pines,
Patches flowers bloom as the warm sun shines.

Wildlife happily skitter and scurry, birds sore in the air,
A family content and grateful for the time they're blessed to share.

Back home to our cabin tucked in the woods,
Gathering up a meal from our garden and stored goods,

Stoking up a fire in its place from flicker to flame,
Each day better treasuring all the blessings that remain the same.

Together with you, my wife, my partner, my Sweets,
Loving our God, our children, our shared time for coffee and treats.

Simplicity, serenity, comfort, pleasure, and peace,
So very thankful for our happiness that seems to never cease.

Knowing you loving me as much as I love you,
Now that's a dream I wish to come true.

Well written! I liked the line from flicker to flame, I really enjoyed that piece more than many things I’ve read.
