Super-nature

by Michael   Mar 16, 2022

i love how you are the sound
of ice, when it cracks and crackles
how you move the wind quietly
and bring it to a silent standstill

the taste you leave in my mouth
from the sweetest to the sharpest

the moment when
i lay my back upon the surface of the sea
floating on gentle waves that quiver with
empathy

the feeling of earth beneath my bare feet
connecting my roots to yours -
treading with care, not to leave
footprints of sympathy

i love, that i need not ever put a face
to you, or pray to sketches or idols,
you overwhelm me with what you
bring into my sight filling my eyes
with a true vision

and of course i love
how you touch my heart
for me to be able to breathe;
so as to live

you have no need to perform
miracles

because in all my senses
you are one.

What a beautiful, calming ode to nature! I felt so at peace and like I was held by Mother Earth while reading this. I think it's a necessary reminder to stop for a few moments and appreciate the earth - to feel the wind and feel any connection we have with nature. I also find it powerful how you mentioned there is no need for you to pray to idols, it's enough having nature be your guide and give you purpose, a vision. I felt spiritual in a way reading this, as well as humbled, and like a child rediscovering the world. Because sometimes, we can get lost in ourselves, or in the feeling of hopelessness, and that bond may be weakened.
