The Many Sides of Love

by Walter   Apr 17, 2022

I compare you to the rain
As you're not always there
And for when the times I see you
It feels like such despair

Because with you comes the storm
Your thunder beating loud
Turning sunshine into darkness
With all of your dark cloud

For I can find no shelter
When from you I try to hide
And if I ever face you
It seems we both collide

But then you went away
For weeks that you were gone
And I began to miss you
When only the sun shone

Realising that I need you
For so long feeling dry
I was happy when I heard you
Roaring in the sky

I ran outside so quickly
Though I was almost bare
As I had no cover from you
But for once I didn't care

I reached my hands up to you
And for your touch I yearned
For all the weeks I missed you
Facing sunshine that would burn

At first just a few drops
As I felt you on my skin
Left me begging for some more
For raining to begin

Then the heavens opened
And all my skin you'd cool
My love was dehydrated
And once again you'd fuel

From all my weeks alone
My heart felt so much pain
But finally now united
I'm singing in the rain

As love's not always sunshine
Where flowers bloom and grow
Because all of its four seasons
Each one of us needs to know
