Past

by mistake   Apr 18, 2022

I sit,
I breath,
I feel the breeze lazily drift past.

I take a moment,
It feels like less,
To think about my past.

The irritation of past joys,
And how the won’t come back.
Stuck in the past.

I know
That in the future
I’ll look into the past.

And when I’m there
I’ll tell myself
It was better, in the past.

All that’s good is past.
I should enjoy the past,
Before it’s past.

well, I marched past this poem
    Before the poem past me
Imagine what would happened if the poem past me?
i wouldn’t have known that all that’s good is past
And that I should enjoy the past before it’s past
    This past is present indeed
so present … in this poem I marched past

Thank you for the comment, the kind that gives more than just a comment.

I’m glad to see you seem to have understood my thought process in this one very well. Wanted to go with something like John Agards half-caste, but with the rose tinted glasses and that we sometimes don’t realise we are in good times until they’re... well, past.

Thanks again for the deeper than normal feedback!
