The Living

by Obscure   May 24, 2022

World's clear and bright with distance
But living makes it dull
We strive against resistance
To claim our life was full
But as we live, the colors
Are stripped from in our eyes
And all at once we shudder
At what once fed our sighs
There's glamour in the wanting
Anticipation taunts
Then we are tasked with haunting
When we have lived our wants
We tasted wine, expensive food
Then it was all a memory
So please, I ask, don't think me rude
I've simply lost my energy
