A Cog In The Wheel

by Walter   Feb 2, 2023

I look forward to daily train trips
As I know I'll get a seat
Though I'm far from the city
I'm not standing on my feet

I look forward to my work
A high rise building in the crowd
But I know we're here to help people
And it leaves me feeling proud

I look forward to my lunch
While my colleagues eat take-away
And joke about my healthy meals
It's seldom that I sway

I look forward to Friday moods
Our cafe with a view
We'll stop for a drink here after work
Which often turns to two

I look forward to coming back
To a delicious home cooked meal
I feel so happy although despite
I'm just one cog in the wheel

I didn't always have this view
And so often would complain
What once felt like an endless cycle
Where sadness would remain

But if you look outside the box
Which society crams you in
You'll appreciate the small things in life
Which make the big wheel spin

Hi Gel, I must admit there are some days it is hard to see the positives but they are plentiful if we stop and appreciate the things we have and take for granted. Thanks for reading and leaving your comment!
