Bleeding Love to Ashes & Embers

by The Fallen Angel   Sep 28, 2026

The night had dressed in deepest black,
and darkness wore the crown;
The stars had lost their way to shine,
while silence filled the town.

The light that once had lived in your eyes
had trembled, faded, died;
I reached for what we once had been,
but found only goodbye.

The feathers once that rode the wind
had been so soft and white;
But stones were tied around their wings
and dragged them from the light.

The silken dreams we held so close,
once tender, warm, and bright,
were torn apart by sharpened words
and vanished into night.

The rain no longer felt like rain;
it fell like bitter tears.
It washed our colours from the earth
and drowned our better years.

The roses had lost their innocence,
their petals stained the ground;
The sweetest things we once believed
were nowhere to be found.

And everywhere, our dreams lay still,
their ashes cold and gray;
The life we thought we’d live together
had slowly slipped away.

I watched the love we built collapse,
its fragments at my feet;
I reached to gather what remained,
but nothing felt complete.

I searched for something still untouched-
a feather, star, or flame-
but innocence had left our hearts,
and love had lost its name.

Yet underneath the weight of ash,
beneath the ruin’s reign,
a few small embers still endured,
still breathing through the pain.

They glowed beneath the broken earth,
half-buried, bruised, and dim;
Not bright enough to bring back life,
yet darkness could not win.

For even as the ending came,
and everything grew still,
some embers held the warmth of love
long after love had died.
