Misery

I'm tired
But I can't fall asleep.
My eyes are closed,
But I'm afraid to dream.
I stare into this blackness
Until my eyes become dry.
Thoughts echo through my head.
They have yet to subside.
My heart is so heavy
From this pain left untold.
My arms are so empty
From having no one to hold.
I feel so unworthy
And a waste to this world.
No one understands
The pain I must endure.
I try to hold my head up high
And smile at the day.
When inside I'm falling apart
And wishing to fade away.
But still each night
As my head hits the pillow
And my mind begins its games,
I remind myself that
This won't last forever.
Tomorrow's a brand new day.
