Winter City

by Pygmalion   Oct 12, 2004

Life's cold and freezing in the city
Ice is evil and fire's so pretty
Million souls seek with no pride
A place of shelter to hide

Burning desires and crazy visions
Of a warm hearth and frozen coffins
An old piece of bread in the white snow
Can make a thousand cheeks glow

In the winter shadows stands a poor fellow
Next to her child's body, hungry and widow
Its face so blue, fighting for his existence
God, hasn't death got any bloody patience

Carrying all sorrows on its path
The cold keeps on punishing with wrath
Making its way through suburbs and slums
Leaving a trace of nothing but victims

Have you ever seen a frozen childbirth
Or the sun vanishing from the earth
Have you ever seen a face so white
So damn cold and sad, yet with no fright

In the land of survivors, he was the traitor
His only crime was finding no shelter
With his death he got rid of many years
Years of aching ears and frozen tears

A courageous hero who gave his life
Leaving behind no children or wife
He left no one, without wishing anyone farewell
No one'll ever know how he got through this hell
