NEED...

by Kaitlin Kristina   Dec 1, 2004

I breathe you like air,
Hold on really tight,
If I lose you, I might as well
Just give up the fight.

I wont make it without you,
Please cant you see,
You’re the thing that keeps me going,
Just hold on, let me be.

You’re my drug,
You numb my pain,
Evaporate my tears,
Take away my shame.

I need you so stay,
You take the pain away,
You keep me from self-destruction,
Slow and loving, sweet seduction.

My emotions run wild,
When you’re not around,
You keep me level,
Let me sleep sound.

Hold me baby,
Do me right,
Never leave,
Like the fading night.

You understand me,
Like no one can,
When the tears are streaming,
You just stroke my hand.

If I fall, you’ll be there,
To catch me at the end,
If you drop me, be prepared,
My heart will never mend.

Purposeful, I didnt have a set scheme throughout the poem.

Good poem, but I was more interested in the shifting rhyme scheme. Stanza 4 seems to deviate from the ABCB, but I'm not sure if that was purposeful or not. What's the verdict on that one?
