Goodnight...

by Kaitlin Kristina   Dec 2, 2004

I stay awake to watch you dream, as soft rays of yellow capture the scene, I smile as I watch rays of gray, wrinkle up your face, to convey.
I watch you as the shadows seep from under the cracks of doors and seams, for no one knows that when you wake, I will have watched the sleepy darkness you shake.
And as the sky’s vivid purple takes flight, and the stars peek, bright as your eyes, and you sleep peacefully, with the moon at your side, pressed against a now deep blue sky, I know I will have to whisper goodnight, not goodbye.
