The Hardest Thing For a Father

by candi   Jan 3, 2005

The hardest thing for a father
is letting go of a precious life
his heart not knowing what to do
the thought that his little girl will never speak his name

the thought runs through his mind
why am I still here
why am i the one burying her
when she should be burying me

the hardest thing for a father
is knowing that your not alone
but thinking that your life is over
ruining it with pain and sorrow

the hardest thing
is getting rid of all the pain and sorrow
and realizing that you have not lost her yet
she is watching you of every second of every day

This poem was written in memory of my sister who died a short while after she was born.

Wow I definatly agree, although I think that this would be the hardest thing to do weather you were a father or a mother, it would be SO very hard.

That is tough, and your dad must be a really good father. To be able to let go, after something this sad. Good poem. Thanks for the read.
