Modern Efficiencies

by FTS Miles   Jan 5, 2005

Sixteen years to attain some
true measure of freedom...
Five years more to realize you
were kidding yourself…
A year to get over
a shattered heart…
A month to heal
A bruised one…
Eight hours to rest well
and not rue the morn…
Twenty minutes to drive to work
and save the roof over your head…
Three minutes to eat before
returning to enslavement…
One minute to say "I love you"
and mean it (really)…
Thirty seconds to utterly
derail a conversation’s focus…
Two seconds to say "I love you"
(not really) because it’s expected...
One second to say "goodbye"
and make it forever.

Nice! I really like this one... although the rhyme scheme is oddly absent, and at times I lost focus, I really enjoyed reading that. At some parts it was a bit confusing and choppy, too... but overall it was great.
